About Gove Boat Club
Gove Boat Club is at 1 Drimmie Head Road on Melville Bay, about 10 kilometres from the centre of Nhulunbuy on the Gove Peninsula in north-east Arnhem Land. It welcomes members, local and visiting yachts, boaties and campers, with a clubhouse, lawns and a playground, the Waterfront Kitchen, and the Manyimi Campground with powered sites next door.
For a club this remote, it punches well above its weight. It's an accredited Discover Sailing Centre with keelboat, dinghy, Tackers and powerboat programs, and it employs a seasonal instructor to keep up with local demand. Club-owned training boats include Optimists, Lasers and Far East 19R keelboats. Practical facilities for boaties include a boat ramp, wash-down bays and liveaboard facilities, which makes it a key stop for cruising yachts crossing the Top End.
Since 2020 the club has also run the Gove Regional Regatta, which brings sailors all the way from Darwin, about 1,000 kilometres away.
The club is open Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm to 9pm and Friday to Sunday from 12pm to 9pm (closed Monday and Tuesday). Contact the club on (08) 8987 3077 or admin@goveboatclub.com.au. See our [Nhulunbuy sailing clubs page](/sailing-clubs/northern-territory/nhulunbuy-gove-peninsula) for more.
