About Whyalla Yacht Club
Whyalla Yacht Club is the local yacht club for Whyalla, operating from the town foreshore on upper Spencer Gulf, beside the Whyalla foreshore marina. It's a community-focused club that welcomes experienced sailors and beginners alike, brought together, as members put it, by a love of the sea.
**Racing and events.** The club runs community sailing and class racing and has hosted regattas for dinghy classes including the 125. Its signature event is the Queen of the Gulf regatta, a family-friendly weekend of close, hard racing and a great atmosphere. It also joins Royal Port Pirie Yacht Club for the Cockle Spit Cricket.
**The setting.** The clubhouse is at Buttlingarra Way on the Whyalla foreshore, near the marina boat ramp, the Whyalla Circular Jetty and the Hummock Hill lookout. Dolphins are often seen in the bay, and the waters off Whyalla are famous for the giant Australian cuttlefish.
**Getting involved.** Membership, events and contact details are published on the club's website and Facebook page. Newcomers are welcome to get in touch about crewing or trying a sail.
