About Yachting Directions
Yachting Directions is a Pittwater-based sailing training business led by Brien Daniel, a certified RYA Yachtmaster Instructor with more than four decades in the leisure-boat industry. Its office is on Iluka Road at Palm Beach, and classroom courses are held at Mosman Bay Marina, Newport and Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club. Alongside training, the business runs a McConaghy catamaran share-ownership programme.
The focus is advanced RYA navigation and skippering. Shorebased Day Skipper and Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore theory courses run face to face over three weekends, with optional online homework sessions, and practical Yachtmaster exam preparation and multi-day mile-builder passages follow for candidates heading to an RYA Yachtmaster exam, using a Beneteau 40.7 and a Nautitech 40 catamaran.
It best suits sailors who already have some experience and want a Day Skipper or Yachtmaster qualification, including those seeking a certificate recognised by AMSA for commercial work. Check which venue and dates apply, and who delivers the practical sessions, before booking.
